We are Gevelles

Carole Talboys- Pipe Carrier and Musician

Lorna McTavish- Pipe Carrier and Drum Keeper

Come and share some healing Medicine …

We are two women who have been apprenticed to teachers in the Medicine way (Lakota and Metis). Our separate Elders ordained us as Pipe carriers. We are delighted to have been brought together to support each other now we are Elders in our own right. We have a heart for Plymouth and Cornwall, having connected and spent time together in ceremony at woman’s camps in Dorset, where we were known as the “Twins”.

We feel called to bring our Sacred Pipes together. We’re both established Spiritual workers in our own right and our joint work is blossoming and we are stepping out in trust. As well as being Pipe carriers we are both drummers and song weavers. Carole is a “Grandmother taught in the Lakota way” and learnt shamanic healing at Shamanka. She is an established folk musician. Lorna, as adopted Metis, carries Eagle healing and drum making medicine from her Metis teacher Chief Sandy Dancing Two Eagle Spirit. We both carry Horse medicine – Carole White Horse Woman who Brings the Dream and Lorna  Black Fire Horse Woman. We work with horse – the power to enter the darkness and find the light.

Why not book us for an event, a life ceremony or come make a drum.

Meet Gevelles Elder Carole
"White Horse Woman who Brings the Dream"

I ( Carole) have been ordained as a Pipe carrier and live close by Boscastle. I was apprenticed to a Medicine woman for 10 years in Wales and was learnt Ceremony and women’s mysteries in the Lakota tradition with her and hold a Grandmother lineage. I am passionate about Cornwall and worked in the museum there many years ago now.

I was recently interviewed for a television programme about the flood in Boscastle for the 20th anniversary because I was working in the museum when the epic flood came, let’s just say it was an interesting time with some deep learning. In recent years I have been training in the ways of Shamanic healing with the Shamanka school in Dorset.

I am also a musician, singer and music producer. I play traditional instruments such as a hammer and mountain dulcimer.
As a local Spiritual teacher, I am keen to support this work with a sister so close to my home and to be able to share the wisdom and teachings I have learned over time.

Meet Gevelles Elder Lorna
"Black Fire Horse Woman"

I work in a Celtic tradition coming from the family land in Argyll. I have medicine passed from my auntie and my grandmother around the work of the Cailleach of those lands.  I am also a Pipe carrier, adopted and made an Elder by my First Nations sister Sandy Dancing Two Eagle Spirit who is an international teacher on indigenous ways. We are fortunate Sandy has a heart for the city and Cornwall (holding a pipe ceremony in Tintagel Castle on her last visit).  She has passed me the rights to hold medicine ceremonies here alongside my traditional Celtic teaching.

I’m a counsellor/ group worker, song weaver and drum maker.

I left NHS Psychotherapy work to Embrace my Eldership full time and met Carole….

There’s something special about our work together, as together we can create a unique space, bringing together our different skills as well as our similarities. Being a pipe carrier in the United Kingdom is quite a lonely place and whilst I had been able to go back and forward to Canada to my adopted Elder and group there for a few years,  since COVID this hasn’t been a possibility for me. It’s a big responsibility to hold this medicine and so it’s really amazing to find somebody else, nearby, who understands this and who so respectfully carries her Pipe.

The Medicine of the Horse

We are both bringers of song.. If you see us at festival’s you might notice that we’re singing as we go about the day often writing songs in an impromptu way about anything that catches our attention. This  love of song makes it a joy for us  to to help other people to bring out their heart song. It is this joy that we want to share together as we invite you into our circle to sing, drum, dance, pray, heal- whatever feels right as you join us. This is deep work and I’ve been delighted to see the response to our work from people coming to our tent at the last Kernow Healing Fields Festival. As we felt so safe with each other we then seemed to create a place that people find special..

So do seek us out at festivals and events and please consider booking onto our own events and ceremonies.

We do love working locally but will travel to meaningful spaces if you wanted to invite us…. like Lorraine at Kernow Healing Fields did…

Proud to be working in Association with Kernow Healing Fields

Following a fantastic response to their work at Kernow Healing Fields Festival, Carole is leading on the Dark Moon Drumming winter workshops in those fields. Lorna is coming “over the Tamar” when she can to join these evenings.

Next Dark Moon circle on on 26th Jan 6-8pm.

As the weather warms look out for new workshops with us in the fields.

We will be at the second Kernow Healing Fields Festival in the summer.
