We have a strong connection with the schools… our Elders from Canada are survivors and children of survivors.

 215 buried unexplained graves found here in May 2021…

#215 buried babies in Government school grounds… the start of many 1000s. 

A Secwepemc teacher and Knowledge Keeper from Tk’emlups, who has taught and worked within numerous Secwepemc Indigenized programs  honoured us with a visit in 2022.

Sadly Tk’emlups (Kamloops) Nation Elders found the buried babies in the residential school grounds when they brought in new technology to search the earth.

There is a drum I made to drum for the  children when the news broke. We drummed on the Mayflower steps. 

It is now with our Sister from Kamloops, who works closely with our own Elder Sandy, and joined Sandy on our cultural exchange this year.

Delighted she took the drum home. 

We continue to hold the people in mind as other schools are finding graves.
